ARPDC Join Initiatives
Since
1995, the Alberta Regional PD Consortia, have worked together
to develop the following provincial initiatives:

Adult
Learning for Students' Sake
- This conference is held every two years. Past speakers
have included Denis Sparks, JoEllen Killion, Linda Lamebert,
Thomas Guskey.
Dream
Big: Creating and Growing Your School Foundation - The purpose of this conference was
for schools to learn the hows and whys of having a foundation
support education in your district; build a better foundation
that supports and enhances public education; learn, share
and network with others interested in foundations and fundraising.
The keynote speaker was Mark Havens from Lewiston Idaho.
Mark is the author of Dream Big: Creating and Growing
your School Foundation.
Early
Literacy Symposia - Every
summer the regional offer two summer symposia (Edmonton
and Calgary). The focus of these symposia are to provide
K-3 educators with an opportunity to learn from experts
and share expertise with colleagues from across the Province
of Alberta.
Middle
Literacy Symposium - This
three year initative provided Middle Literacy educators
with an opportunity to examine concepts, strategies and
resources specific to Middle Schools.
Reaching
& Teaching Conference
- Since 2001 this conference has attracted over 4,000 attendes
provincially, nationally and internationally. Themes and

Small
Schools Conference - This
conference was created with the needs of small schools in
mind. Teachers, school and central office administrators,
trustees and school council members participated to allow
participants an opportunity to celebrate the wonderful things
happening in Alberta's small schools.

Alberta Regional PD Consortia
purposes
include supporting the implemntation of new program of studies.
We believe that effective curriculum implemtation will is a shared
responsibility which will also positively affect student learning.
As funds for implentation become available, Alberta Learning provides
grants in specific areas, such as the list which follows. Regional
Consortia suport for implementation may include coordination,
development and delivery of inservice. We have collaborated with
